Your Feedback on Recent Conferences

Have you been to a recent conference?  Family Focus was in October.  The Housing Central Conference was on November 21-23rd in Richmond.  The Health and Wellbeing Conference was last week at the Coast Plaza on Denman Street in Vancouver.  I have been asking people for feedback on what was the most interesting thing they found at the conference they attended.

Brenda attended the Health and Wellbeing Conference and said the session that struck her was titled “Is Poverty the Diagnosis?”.  It was a presentation by Dr. Barbara Fitzgerald on the impact of poverty on child development.  She now supports a charity in Vancouver called Mom2Mom that helps families in poverty get connected to community resources.

Chris attended the Family Focus Conference in Richmond and said the most important thing to him was the opportunity to talk with others who have the same mission – good lives in the community.  Our work is often one person at a time, out in the community, so having a chance to talk together about successes, challenges and strategies is helpful.

Larry and Amy attended the Housing Central Conference and Larry was a co-presenter on Tuesday afternoon.  A link to his part of the presentation is here.
