Policy Revisions:

Policy revisions made to the 2006 policy and procedure= s manual. Policy changes are on the website. To access click on Publications, then cl= ick on DRAFTpolicies2007. The changes are highlighted in red.

Policies were reviewed. Only addition made was to unde= rline may in the policy and procedures manual policy 18 j.

Review the changes/additions with staff team and email= Susan with any feedback from team members.

The Boar= d will review the changes and the policies will be printed in November. Copies will be available at the residential houses, at the office and on the website.

Wage Equity:

Check out the Spectrum website. Click on Respect All Community Services under Community Living Links. The website is a committee= of non-unionized agencies who are working together to get equal compensation l= ike the unionized agencies did.

This site contains links to the letter Ernie sent to t= he government, newspaper article regarding wage equity, and lawyer’s let= ter to the government.

Susan has created a letter for employees to sign and s= end to Minister of Finance Carole Taylor in response to the Vancouver Sun article and the long wait= for wage equity.

The letter will be distributed to managers to pass out= the staff teams

Cell phones:

Use in emergencies? For cars and lost residents? Ernie is looking into the possibil= ity of using old cell phones for 911 only use.

Health Alerts:

Managers will make sure that houses are aware of any f= ood health alerts.

Example = bagged spinach from the Uni= ted States.

RRSP’s

New RRSP plan starts on October 1, 2006. The October 1= 5^th deposit will be the first deposit to Group Retirement Savings.

Check the Pay stubs insert tab on the Website for information about GRS’s educational sessions.

Staff will need to attend one of the three sessions or= pick up a package from the office after Sept 26 as a signature for transfer is required.

The policy committee decided to switch providers as GRS offers 1) less fees 2) more education 3) portfolio investment funds.

Sick time to RRSP’s

An employee must keep 80 hours in their sick time bank= and any hours above that

can be converted to RRSP contributions at 50%.

Example: 140 sick hours- 80 hours (to keep in bank) eq= uals 60 hours, 30 hours to RRSP and 30 hours dissolve

Ask your manager or email Personnel or Ernie if you wa= nt to know your sick time balance.

Sick hours are paid at 50% when an employee leaves Spe= ctrum

Tipping:

There is no Spectrum policy against tipping for servic= e.

Staff and clients should tip at restaurants for servic= e at the standard rate of 10-15%.

Clients and staff don’t want to get a reputation= for not tipping for service
