Health & Safety Committee – New Format Proposal:

For the past 5 years, our Health and Safety Committee = has been composed of our Policy Committee representatives.  After a two hour policy meeting, we would then convene a Health and Safety committee and conduct the health and safety business required of Spectrum. 

 

After a review by WorksafeBC, we are proposing the following changes:

  1.   These representatives would be in place for one year and must be permanent employees (not in their first three months of employment) to= be on the ballot.  Each year= in June we will elect new representatives.  There is no rule against curr= ent representatives running for re-election.

  4. New Human Resources Manager
  • Review incident investigations of worker injuries in the past month.
  • Review Health and Safety plans underway

    • Eg.       - Plan to address Musculo-Skeletal Injuries (MSI)

                <= /span>- Plan to prevent workplace violence

      1. Review reports of unsafe working conditions.
      2. These meetings could be as short as 15 minutes and as long as an hour.
      3. Documents would be circulated by email or the website in advance of the meeting= .
