Spectrum’s Policies and Procedures Committee March 2012

At our last meeting of the Policy and Procedures Committee we discussed two main topics: The composition of the P & P Committee and wages and benefits.  The minutes are posted on the P & P site:

Communication and participation are key to the effectiveness of the Policies and Procedures Committee and we noted that not all teams have a representative in attendance at the meetings.  A proposal was developed to create more representative attendance at the P & P meetings.   Take a look and let us know what you think.

Regarding wages and benefits, we discussed the value people place on their health and dental benefits.  The representatives reviewed current benefits program costs and trends for increases in the future and agreed that we need to continue education efforts to ensure our program is well used.  The Wellness program is also intended to give employees tools and skills to improve their physical and mental health and ensure they are healthy team members at work.

The one significant change over the past year has been the change to Minimum Wage.  Our sleep night rates were adjusted last year to ensure they were compliant through the November 2011 increase.  The last scheduled increase is today – May 1, 2012 – with the rate going to $10.25 per hour.  The new sleep night rates went into effect on April 24th, 2012 for the next pay date on May 15, 2012.
