Highlights: You will be an integral part of the support network for a middle aged man. This is a key role in maintaining a "good life" for G.B. G.B. is a very social man who likes being out and active in his community. He likes being out and about and doing things, but also needs to have down time built into his days. His sister is very involved in his life and you will need to support and foster their relationship. Good coping skills in relation to your own emotional regulation would be important for your own self care. A good personal network is key to maintaining your health. As a cornerstone in GB's support network, it will be crucial to be an honest communicator and to be willing to take time to communicate with the key people in GB's life. A collaborative style of working is also important to working as a part of a team. This position is best suited for a single caregiver. Compensation will be a tax-free salary with room and board. G.B will have staffed support Mon, Thurs, and Fri 24 hours each day.

Location: Vancouver (west side)

Reports to: Program Manager

Rate of pay: As per current pay scale

Probation: 3 months

Driving requirements: Driver's license (Class 5),

Special training or experience required: Dealing with challenging behavior, Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage),

Preferred training or experience: Experience with personal care. Excellent stress management skills.

Expected hours of work: Tues, Weds, Sat, Sun 24 hours each day. One weekend a month G.B. will be at his sister's home.
