We are excited to let you know our plans for this years Vancouver Folk Music Festival At Home (Physically Apart/Together at Heart) –
Thirteen different shows were filmed for VFMF At Home: eight concerts, two song circles, a short about making guitars with luthier Warren Murfitt, and three “kids of all ages” interactive shows with festival favourites Redbird and family. They will all be available for free via our website www.thefestival.bc.ca, staring July 16th at 4:00 pm and running until July 23rd. The shows were filmed at a variety of local venues – Buckerfield’s, The Cultch, Jericho Beach Park, Kay Meek Centre, The Rickshaw, and Soundhouse Studios). We were honoured to have Tsatsu Stalqayu (Coastal Wolf Pack) perform a ceremonial opening and set of songs and dances at Jericho Beach park, and we request that you view this performance first.
In addition to showing free on line, a selection of concerts and song circles will be shown on the big screen at the Rio Theatre, as 2 different “movies” July 17 and 18th (tickets at www.riotheatre.ca, so you can watch in A/C comfort, wear your fave fest attire and have a beverage and popcorn while you watch). Tickets are $15 per show or $25 for a day pass to see both sets of concerts.
