Duties and Responsibilities:

The Community Support Worker will work one on one to promote independence, consistency, and positive daily routines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Excellent active listening skills — able to engage fully, validate, and respond thoughtfully.

  • Reliability and punctuality — consistently arrives on time and follows through on commitments.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills — able to help structure daily routines and support established plans and activities.

  • Motivation and initiative — proactively supports the development of routines and follows through on agreed activities.

  • Resourcefulness — generates creative ideas for local activities or knows how to access community resources and events.

  • Calm and steady demeanor — maintains composure in challenging or unpredictable situations.

  • Clear and compassionate communication — kind yet direct; provides clarity and reassurance when needed, providing support to someone who thrives on clear communication.

  • Positive sense of humor — uses humor appropriately to diffuse tension, build rapport, and redirect focus when necessary.

  • Strong observational skills — attentive to emotional and behavioral cues, especially regarding anxiety levels, and assists in using appropriate coping or de-escalation strategies.

Rate of Pay:

CSW: $24.50/hour to $26.65/hour


Probation:

3 months


Driving Requirement:

Driver's license (Class 5)


Preferred Training or Experience:


Specific Training or Experience Required:

  • Supporting People who get anxious
  • Ability to motivate, encourage and engage the interests of others.
  • Assisting People to find employment or support them in the workplace
  • Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)
