For this ‘Good Lives in Community’ feature, we’re highlighting Thomas, who wanted to share some experiences that made him feel proud lately!
Thomas says he’s been getting much more active than before. In the past, physical activities weren’t something Thomas did very often, but that’s starting to change. Lately he’s been enjoying playing ping pong and pool at the community center and has been noticing his skills improving. One of the best parts is playing against his support worker, James.
Getting out into the community has been another highlight. Thomas enjoys going for drives around town and listening to music in the car along the way. A particularly memorable outing was going for hotpot at Big Way Hot Pot on Christmas Day. Thomas shared that trying a new restaurant and enjoying a different kind of meal made the day feel extra special.
All of these experiences have left Thomas feeling happy, proud, excited, and accomplished! Thomas also shares that he’s been feeling more comfortable coming to the community center on his own. In fact, one morning Thomas arrived bright and early at 8:20am and spent the time playing pool with others.
Another fun discovery has been learning to play ping pong. Thomas didn’t know how to play before, but now that he does, it’s opened the door to trying even more new things in the future.
Looking ahead, Thomas shared that he’s excited about the possibility of working one day.
We love seeing Thomas trying new activities, building confidence, and having fun along the way!
