Highlights:
AH and AC are two unique individuals who share a welcoming, accessible basement suite and receive 24-hour support. Both value their independence, personal choices, and being actively involved in their communities. They are looking for supportive, patient, and positive team members who can appreciate their individual personalities and help them continue living meaningful, self-directed lives.
AH is a kind, hardworking gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour! He enjoys gardening, sharing jokes, caring for people and animals, and being an active member of his community. Family is important to AH, and he looks forward to spending time with loved ones on weekends. AH appreciates opportunities to contribute, help others, and maintain his independence. He uses a cane or walker and benefits from mobility assistance, particularly overnight.
AC is an independent, outgoing woman who enjoys shopping, spending time with friends, attending community programs, and getting out and about on her own. She values her freedom, making her own decisions, and having opportunities to advocate for herself. AC uses mobility aids to support her independence and appreciates staff who respect her choices, encourage her confidence, and support her in achieving her personal goals
Both AH and AC experience complex mental health challenges and benefit from consistent, calm, and understanding support. They appreciate staff who can balance encouragement and independence with clear, respectful boundaries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is someone with a calm, patient personality, a great sense of humour, strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships. Someone who understands the importance of being supportive without taking over and who can encourage self-advocacy while respecting each person’s choices and routines would be a wonderful fit for their team.
The preferred supporter will be someone who uses a gentle approach while upholding strong boundaries.
Cantonese language skills would be considered an asset but not required, as ‘AH’ speaks English and Cantonese.
If you have experience or a passion to help and support individuals who struggle with mental health issues, you would be considered a great candidate for this role
