Dine the Expo Line – WestCoastFood

westcoastfood.ca

EXPO LINE

Named for the World’s Fair in 1986 for which it was built, the Expo Line is Vancouver’s original SkyTrain line. After emerging from below downtown Vancouver, riders are treated to a bird’s eye view as they travel through the metropolis of Burnaby to New Westminster and its waterfront dining and over the SkyBridge above the Fraser River to Surrey’s mix of traditional world cuisine and modern sensibility.

Journey around the world on a SkyTrain ticket! It only takes 35 minutes to travel from Vancouver to Surrey, and in only a few stops at our region’s many globally influenced restaurants along the way, your taste buds will think they’ve been gone for at least 80 days.

Gay Uncles Day

  • Gay Uncles Day, also known as Guncles Day, is celebrated on the second Sunday in August. It was first celebrated in the U.S. on a wide scale Sunday August 14, 2016.

People celebrate it by posting photos of guncles with nephews and nieces using the hashtag #GunclesDay, #GayUnclesDay or #NationalGunclesDay.[1][2][3][4]

The day highlights the diverse range of gay uncles who take care of nephews, nieces and other relatives, the definition of what it means to be ‘family’, and the growing acceptance of their role in today’s society.

Gay Uncles Day started as a social media hashtag campaign #GayUnclesDay in August 2016. The idea came from a Florida-based Facebook user, C.J Hatter.[5] Gay Uncles Day is always the second Sunday in August.

Cold Water Ranch Lodge

Respite at the Cold Water Ranch
The Cold Water Ranch Lodge is an accessible respite lodge that welcomes kids and adults living with a disability for a stay, together with their loved ones.  The lodge is the
first of it’s kind in BC.  At no charge, it offers family a much-needed place to rest, recharge, and reconnect.  The Cold Water Ranch Lodge is available to children and adults living with a disability.  They are able to book a bedroom pod in the lodge and bring up to 6 of their loved ones (or their respite worker).  Eligible guests only pay a one-time minimal cleaning fee.

Disability organizations are able to book the lodge if 30% of the guests included are individuals with disabilities.  A cleaning fee applies.

Retreat Rentals

Corporate and other groups can rent the lodge for team-building retreats.  The rental income will be used for the operations and ongoing maintenance of the lodge.  That way thousands of families in need will be able to enjoy the lodge for years to come.
