Honoring Orange Shirt Day

September 29 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Please join us in honoring Orange Shirt Day (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. We will be learning about the 4 sacred medicines and we will be making medicine pouches!

Four Sacred Medicines: Gifts of Healing and Connection - Grandmother's Voice

Orange Shirt Day was formed in Williams Lake, BC when elders gathered and talked about their experiences at St. Joseph Mission residential school. The elders gathered to tell their stories and try to heal themselves and their families. Phyllis (Jack) Webstad’s story of her shiny orange shirt being taken away on the first day of residential school and other people having a similar story as Phyllis, started the movement of Orange Shirt Day. This day is to bring awareness to what happened in residential schools and to have meaningful conversations.

Lunch will be served! Halibut chowder or veggie soup.

Please RSVP by September 23, 2026 to Lindsay at lindsay.clifton@spectrumsociety.org or 236-312-1449
