G.B. is a lovely gentleman with a good sense of humour who is looking for someone who is comfortable with being a homebody.  G.B. is in his sixties and is slowing down, so most of his evenings are spent at home as he is out during the day, although you will go out with him on occasional evenings.  A typical evening will be making dinner, getting laundry done, watching some shows on TV with G.B. helping as much as he can or is willing to do.  Most nights he goes to bed by 8:30 or 9:00 pm.  In the mornings you will help G.B. to get ready for his day and have breakfast.  G.B. spends one weekend a month at his sister’s, you will be spending the other weekends with him.  On the weekends when you are with him the mornings are typically spent at home doing chores or some baking. In the afternoons you would go out to run errands or do some shopping or a fun activity and then the evening would be spent at home.  With this position it’s important to follow consistent routines so G.B. know what to expect.

G.B.’s sister is very involved in his life and a part of your role is to support their relationship and to develop a good relationship with her.  Prior to the position starting you will get the opportunity to spend time with G.B. and his sister in order to get to know them and start developing a good relationship with both of them.  This will also help you and us to determine if you are a good fit for this important role in G.B.’s life.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to what is above in the highlights you will be doing grocery shopping with G.B. and will also manage ordering his medications from the pharmacy, making sure that there is an adequate supply of his medications on hand.  You will need to also closely monitor G.B.’s health reporting any concerns to his sister and the program manager
