Highlights:

RB is an active fellow who uses transit to access his Surrey neighbourhood as well as PoCo and Langley.  He’s looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic but calm personality type to provide his weekly staff support hours by accompanying him on/to his community activities.  He needs consistency in his weekly routine and his staff support.  Ability to plan effectively with RB so that there are some motivating and fun activities taking place but also taking direction from him and always aware of his cues is key to his excellent support.  Must be familiar with the transit system or able to effectively use the Translink app.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Active 1-1 community-based support.  Generally meeting in a pre-planned community destination but occasionally from his home.  Always supported using transit; specifically buses.  Rarely skytrain.   Activities will involve swimming, playing mini-golf, LOTS of walking distances, bowling, running errands, bottle depot returns, shopping.  Must be prepared for any of these in all weather conditions.  Prepared to be outside in all weather and to help RB also have what he needs for safe weather preparedness.  Excellent attentiveness to RB’s comfort in adverse weather.

Rate of Pay:

CSW: $24.50/hour to $26.65/hour


Probation:

3 months

Driving not required


Preferred Training or Experience:

-Clear communication, observational and active listening skills
-Excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills
-The ability to assist with community connecting skills and to motivate and encourage


Specific Training or Experience Required:

  • Supporting People who get anxious
  • Ability to motivate, encourage and engage the interests of others.
  • Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)

Other Specific Training

Mandt certification (Spectrum trained)
