Highlights:
NH appreciates those who love colour and music and have a fun but calm personal style. She gravitates to those who have a kind, positive demeanour and motivating attitude while being able to maintain clear personal boundaries and respecting hers. Best suited is someone with a patient, compassionate approach, active listening skills, clear communication. It’s important to be mindful of your words and actions as well as observant of her body language and unspoken communication. Someone to bring ideas, small or large, for things to do at home and out in community. NH finds large groups overwhelming and uncomfortable; she needs her worker to be attentive to when she is becoming uncomfortable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Home support duties include: assistance with intimate hygiene routines/care including bathing, toileting and tidying up.
Meal preparation and clean up.
Assistance to set environmental circumstances up so that NH can transfer herself and safely move around her home and community settings where possible.
Walking alongside NH as she uses her electric wheelchair in community, using transit and walking as her transportation.
Accompanying NH to appointments if needed.
Motivating and helping NH to plan activities and locate resources needed to connect to her community.
Providing companionship and support to NH to attend community outings and leisure activities outside her home.
Develop a supportive and helpful working relationship with NH with healthy personal boundaries.
Cultivate and maintain a positive engagement style with NH’s home share provider as work takes place in and from, their home.

Rate of Pay:
CSW: $26.00/hour to $28.25/hour
Probation:
3 months
Driving Requirement:
Driving not required
Preferred Training or Experience:
-Clear verbal communication, observational and active listening skills
-Excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills
-The ability to assist with community connecting skills and to motivate and encourage
-Prior experience providing personal and intimate hygiene support/care
Specific Training or Experience Required:
- Supporting People who get anxious
- Ability to motivate, encourage and engage the interests of others.
- Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)
